陈信中 Tan Shin Tiong

A member of the Siaw-Tao Chinese Seal Carving, Calligraphy & Painting Society Singapore and the Cao Tang Meng Eastern Arts Society Malaysia, he was born in Melaka in 1971. In 1993, he graduated from the Nanyang Academy of the Fine Arts, Singapore with a Diploma in Fine Arts.

Having specialized in seal carving and a popular and widely recognized exponent in watercolour. Tan has exhibited extensively throughout Malaysia and Singapore since 2000.

His major exhibitions include:

- Serenity Melaka, Puri Gallery, Melaka. (2000)

- Past and Present, 2 men show, Johor Bahru. (2003)

- Heeren Art Gallery, Melaka. (2009)

- Siaw-Tao Annual Art Exhibition, Singapore. (2012 to 2021)

In recent years, Tan has established a reputation in seal carving; using used or weathered wood, olive seeds, mahjong tiles to achieve a certain unique quality of art works.

“我在创作中所追求的是篆刻中的“不可能”，如四方皆可钤盖的、超大超小的、木头上、麻将上的……跳脱传统结字的束缚，通过一点巧思，这些“不可能”都被证实为“可能”，透露出我在艺术道路上的逆行旅途。”
